Suggest Care For ADHD Patient Also Having Vitamin D Deficiency
I have a 10 yr old grandson with ADHD & he takes 20 mg. FocalinXR in the morning and 2.5 Focalin in the afternoon. He also has hypothyroidism & takes Synthyroid 88 mcg per day. Now he has a Vit. D deficiency. How can I help hom & what should we expect behavior wise?
Hi, Thanks for asking. In my opinion you should treat his Vitamin deficiency with oral Vit D3 supplementation. You may encourage him to play outdoors to increase his exposure to sun. For and ADHD child it is much more easier to cope up if things are more organized for him. Encourage him and teach him to use a planner. Ask him to make a habit of noting down all the to do list and tick off the things done. Similarly check lists for everything including things to be taken at school and things to be brought back form school, will ensure that he does not forget his things. Also pre informed consequences of the behaviours should be decided and prompt implementation should be carried. Also the rewards should be pre decided. He can beg bargain and manipulate whole day but rules should be rules. I hope i have helped you.
