Suggest Blood Thinner Medication After Placing Pacemaker

I had a pacemaker put in, and after got afib. They want to put me on a blood thinner. I am seventy years old and they say I am a 2 what ever that means and want me on a blood thinner. Right now I am on an adult asprin a day and medication that is suppose to help the afib...I am totally scared to death or a blood thinner as my girlfriend died two days after she started Coumadin. Which is the best blood thinner and what are my chances of stroking out if I stay on asprin

Aspirin is also a good blood thinner and is widely used. It avoids clot formations, thus preventing heart attack. Still, I would insist to favor your doctor's choice of blood thinner as he knows all details of your health.
