Hello,

First of all, the antibiotics used to treat bacterial vaginosis (BV) will not affect the effectiveness of the birth control pill. You did not state whether you are on the pill or not. Also, bacterial vaginosis not considered an STD so it will not be caused by having intercourse. It involves an imbalance of the bacteria already present in the vaginal area. Ways to promote normal vaginal bacteria include yogurt and probiotics as well as avoiding douches or other vaginal hygiene products.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
