Suggest an alternative of Metoprolol

My 89 year old mother experienced some TIAs in late July. She has been taking the following meds since then, along with previous prescriptions. 75 mg Clopiogrel, 80 mg Atorvastatin, 1/4 of 25 mg tab, twice a day Metoprolol tartrate, 10 mg Lisinopril. Previously prescribed: 25 mg Levothyroxine and 10mg Melatonin for sleep. Is there a substitute for the metoprolol?

Hello! Welcome to HealthcareMagic!

I need to know the problem your mom is facing with Metoprolol, such that I can prevent the same class of drugs. Any how usually to those who come to me with similar complaints, I suggest the following :

1) Carvedilol 3.125mg once daily.
2) Nebivolol 2.5mg once daily. You can go for either of the above medicines and can discontinue Metoprolol.

Hope you got answers to your question. Any other doubts, please let me know. Thank you for the query.

Take care
