Doctor who will carefully inspect his throat with a good torch and tongue depressor to find out the cause of throat pain & fever in absence of negative Strep.test, which will include: . Tonsillitis, Pharyngitis (acute and/or granular) 2. Till further examination & investigation one should adopt following line of management: . Steam Inhalation 3-4 times a day (add vicks,tinc.benzoin to boiliing water) . Warm salt water gargle . Avoid fried food,cold drinks . Tablet Septilin 2 thrice daily and if attacks are recurrent one may advise Tonsillectomy if: . Child has more than 5 attacks . If Tonsillar lymph nodes are persistently enlarged & tender . child having low grade fever,not gaining weight,loss of appetite . Persistent dry cough, where no other cause is found 3. If fever is long drawn, then investigate fully, ask for: . Hb%,WBC,ESR,Peripheral smear . Urine: routine & microscopic . Widal test . X-ray chest . Ultrasonography of Liver & abdomen . Blood culture if no source is detected.
