Suggest Alternate For Lisinopril To Increase EGFR Level

Hello, I was prescribed a low-dose lisinopril by a nurse practitioner after she looked at my lab work. She said the eGFR was 60. I m a white female, age 62. There are a lot of side effects with this drug. Are there alternatives to taking a drug to bring up the eGFR level?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The lisinopril is in the family of drugs called ACE inhibitors and these are known to protect the kidneys from further damage.
There are a number of drugs in this family

ARB family of medications also protect the kidneys.

As you mentioned, lisinopril can cause side effects like all medication. These are potential side effects that may not occur.
If you review the side effect profile again , you may see that these occur in the minority not the majority of persons.

There are some persons who experience no effects all together , this may be the case for you.

Controlling risk factors such as smoking, blood pressure and diabetes, if any of these are present would help to prevent further kidney damage

I hope this helps
