Hi,

Usually it is not recommended to use hormonal pills for prolonged periods. Now, you please consult your gynecologist once, get examined and go for repeat ultrasound. If you are still having the PCOD pattern of the ovaries:
- Lifestyle modifications like taking balanced healthy diet and regular exercises like walking, jogging swimming etc for 30 to 45 minutes can help to regularize the hormonal levels
- Insulin sensitizers like metformin can help to decrease the severity of the disease.
- As you have used combined hormonal oral pills for around 10 years, better to go for other drugs like progesterone pills. For regularization of the cycles you can take from middle of the month, if you want to use for contraceptive purpose also, you can use progesterone only contraceptive pills.
- Newer formulas like APCOD sachets containing L-methyl folate, myoinositol, vitamin D3 etc., can also help to regularize the cycles. But this will not give contraceptive benefit.
- If problem still persists you can go for PCOD drilling laparoscopically.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sree Gouri S. R., OBGYN
