I AM FACING THE COUGH PROBLEM WHEN TAKE THE FIST SIP OF TEA AND TAKE THE BREATH THEN THE COUGH STARTS AND SOMETIMES THE COUGH SUDDENLY START AND MY THROAT IS CRISP AND START THE COUGH FOR 5 TO 10 MINUTES AND AFTER DRINKING SOME WATER THERE IS SOME RELAX SO, KINDLY GIVE ME SOME USEFUL ADVISES. YOUR PROMPT RESPONSE TO THIS PROBLEM WILL BE HIGHLY APPRECIATED, THANKING YOU, ABRAR AHMAD CHEEMA
A bout of coughing after first sip of tea or on deep inhalation indicates the following things: - There is more sensitivity of mucosa of pharynx or larynx to certain smells like that of tea - Allergic reaction that is enhanced by tea smell - Allergic reaction to something causing changes in pharynx hence getting dryness and further events as you have mentioned - This is not a serious concern unless occurs daily and causes some trouble in day to day life - Stop any such things that instigate or enhance the problems - Get an opinion of an ENT surgeon, get endoscopy of larynx and pharynx - Get treated if anything specific is found
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
