Good morning! Congratulations on wanting to take the wellness way! I thank you for visiting HCM! You realize that I cannot "prescribe" a weight loss diet for you on a public forum. I do have a virtual clinic to help you further if you provide me your age, height, how many times per week you walk and for how long, favorite foods and dislikes.

For now, let me say the standard weight loss plans are 1200 calories for women and 1500 calories/day for men. These are divided into the following approximate distributions: 2 dairy servings, 3 vegies,5 lean protein, 2 fruit, 2 fat, 5 carbohydrates high in water soluble fiber and 1.5 liters of fluid per day (in general). Serving sizes can be found in multiple places such as the American Diabetes Association, but, in general would be 1 (8) ounce cup of milk or 1 ounce of cheese for dairy, 1/2cup for vegies and fruit or 1/2 banana or 1 small piece, fat serving is 1 tsp ghee or butter and for carbohydrates, 1/4 cup rice, 1/2 cup noodles, 1 bread or 1 chilapi and a serving of protein is one egg, 2 Tablespoon of nut butter, 1 oz of lean meat.

Exercise is crucial. The American Heart Associaion recommends 150 minutes per week. For weight loss, do 5 min. warm up, 5 min cool down and 20-30 minutes of exercising in your heart rate zone calculated thusly: 220 -age= maximum heart rate x .6 to get fat burning range and x.7 for cardiovascular effects.

Consider checking vitamin D. Almost everyone is deficient and it assists with metabolism. Also, vitamin B complex taken with Omega 3s have a positive effect on metabolism as does green tea.

For an example of a well balanced approach to healthy living weight loss, look up the Therapeutic Lifestyle Diet or the Meditterean Diet as sample diets.
