Because of these hot and moist condition it can be prone to inflammation and infection. Intertrigo is the term used to refer to inflammation in the body folds mentioned above. It can occur on its own or be accompanied by an infection , usually fungal. You may want to consider the use of a barrier cream such as zinc to prevent further irritation along with a mild steroid cream. The steroid cream would reduce the inflammation.
