Suffering From Hayfever, Roof Of Mouth Itchy. How To Relieve This ?
Hi, I have been suffering from hayfever since I was a child and have had particularly bad symptoms this year so far. The roof of my mouth has now also started to become very itchy, something which I had not previously experienced as a hayfever symptom. Is there anything I can take for this? As any of the tablets I have been taking for the other symptoms do not seem to work for this problem. Thanks
hi, thank you for your query. For hay fever, the best approach is to avoid allergens and other triggers (such as smoke and dust). Another class of medicine used for allergic rhinitis is the leukotriene receptor antagonist, such as montelukast (Singulair). They are taken orally as a tablet, have few side effects, and require a prescription.
treatment options include- 1.antihistamines 2.decongestants 3.nasal sprays(containing anti-histamines should only be used for 3 days) 4.nasal sprays containg steroids which are strong anti-inflammatories and help with many allergy symptoms 5.Another avenue to try is allergy shots, or immunotherapy. This treatment involves a series of injections in increasingly larger doses of the allergen until your body becomes desensitized to it and no longer overreacts in response to it.
thank you, wishing you good health
