my grandma 93 fell broke her hip had to have surgery or see would always be in pain.Two days after surgery she spit up about 2 quarter size blood maybe clots they took her for mri and came back and told me see has a tumor under a lob in left long and I believe also in her lympnodes they recommended comfort care moved her to hospice how long can my grandma live with these few things going on they never say much at hospice I am her caregiver so I can get info but they never really say much

Hi there ~

I understand your concerns. However I am not sure why she was not screened earlier or if she had symptoms of such a tumor in the first place because a sudden onset in tumors is very rare. I believe she may have had a complication from surgery, most commonly a pulmonary embolus which is a very common occurrence post hip surgeries, especially in old people. I also believe that you may see a change in the way the hospice responds if you bring up this issue. I wish you good luck in your endeavors. Take care and have a lovely day!
