Hi,
Welcome to HCM,
I have gone through your history,Your infection with E histolytica can cause colitis usually identified with stool R&M where the cysts and/or Trophozoites are detected.
Treatment with Metronidazole is successful in most of the cases only thing it should be followed up with Diloxanide or Paromomycin to eliminate cysts for 10 days under the supervision of Physician or Gastroenterologist.
If you are having repeated infection source must be eliminated take care of food and potable safe water.
If repeated episodes are there than other differentials should be excluded like Inflammatory Bowel disease by colonoscopy and biopsy. If everything is fine than
even possibility of Irritable bowel disease is there.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
Good Luck.
