Sudden Weight Gain After Having Levothyroxine. Advised Blood Work. Suffering From Hypertension, Stabbing Headaches, Insomnia. Solution?
I was put on Levothyroxine 6 months ago - I was there today and I said I feel heavier than last time I was there. He looked at my chart and said Yes you are 15 pounds heavier and said it can be due to the Levothyroxine. I mentioned that I have been researching and found Nature-thyroid - he said he'd write a prescription for me and have my blood work looked at again in 6-8 weeks but he doesn't want to see me back for another 6 months? I am at the point that I'm not sure I should even be on Levothyroxine. I already suffer from hypertension and I am starting to get stabbing headaches and the doctor in the emergency room 2 months ago placed me on Fiorecet. This weight gain is horrible - and sweating and insomnia at night - I feel like cutting off and stopping the levothyroxin on my own and not even taking the Nature - throid until blood work results come back iafter I get it checked in 8 weeks - Can you tell me if I'm on the right track? thank you - Deborah
Hi there, thanks for asking. It is a very good question. sweating at night and also weight gain could be seen when we have low amount of thyroid hormone in the blood. I suggest you take the medication until the result from the blood test comes back. I wish you a good health.
