Stomach Cramps, Frequent Bowel Movements With Blood. SHould I Meet A Doctor?

Yesterday all afternoon I had extreme stomach cramps. I had a bowel movement about five times. The next one I hade was mostly blood. It only happens when I stand up or go to the bathroom. I stayed lying down with an ice pack, all night. Today when I got up there was less blood. It was mixed with a lot of mucus. Do you think it necessary to go to a doctor

Thank you Ginger Evans

Welcome to HCM!

Yes, definitely you should go to your doctor, get Per Rectal Digital examination & Proctoscopy done by him to look for the cause of the bleeding.
Hemorrhoides/fissure(painful), if present, can be diagnosed easily.
Also do- Stool (R & M), CBC, USG (Abdo-Pelvis).
Till then take antispasmodics, analgesics if pain is there, stool softeners if hard stools, antibiotics with your doctor's opinion.
If hemorrhoides/fissure is not there, other causes need to be ruled out by further investigations. Colonoscopy may be required.

Take high fibre diet, green leafy vegetables.
Drink plenty of fluids like Oral Rehydration Solution.
Wish you a good health.
Take care.
Regards.
