Stem cell treatment for Anoxic Encephalopathy

My dad had a heart attack and due to lock of oxygen doctors told us he has anoxic encephalopathy . He has been in come since April 24,2011. EEG results were abnormal however he has some activities there. He is currently on life support, he has been not responsive at all. He opens his eyes but does not know his surroundings. Does anyone experienced or knows anyone that went through this type of situations and if yes, what, if not does anyone knows a solution and/or treatment for this. Does hyperberic oxygen or Dr. Rador, or stem cell treatment anyone of those are right treatment. If yes where and who is reliable ? Please let me know, my dads lives is so so important for me.

hello Susanna Mkrtchyan ,
i can understand under the pain you are suffering through,be calm dont panic ,its time to gain strength and provide the same to your family ,your father had suffered with 'brain stroke ' due to insuffecient or lack of blood supply to the vital parts of the brain also there might be some kind of haemorrhage which has caused all this and he might be a chronic hypertensive pt ,but apart from all this i can assure you that in well established hospitals and esp ICU'S doctor follow a strict protocol in managing such cases, they might be striving hard to achieve that and have faith in them and lets pray for your father's sreedy recovery !

Hello Susanna
Welcome to HealthcareMagic. What you have mentioned is cerebral hypoxia due to brain injury as a result of decreased oxygenation ie, hypoxia. If it is mild or moderate hypoxia does not have much impact but severe cerebral hypoxia is bad. Outcome depends on how much immedietly and effectively cerebral damage control measures are taken, the amount of brain tissue deprived of oxygen, and the speed with which oxygen was restored to the brain. If patient is in coma, it generally indicates long term damage and there are chances of him remaining in a vegetative state as long, and chances of getting back to normal functioning is less as long as alive or there are even chances of brain to heal but which is rare.As you mentioned, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy HBOT may be used but there is yet insufficient evidence for its use.So basically it is just a symptomatic treatment which am sure your dad must be getting the best of it right now.I hope i could answer your query. And in future too, please do write in to us.Understanding your state of mind, I as part of HealthcareMagic sympathise with you and pray for your dad. Take care.

I have a 25 year old friend, that had a cardiac arrest, she was flat-line for 40minutes, the response team reanimated her, she was ventilated and now is in coma with a anoxic encephalopathy breathing with no ventilator support (traqueostomy). Is there any hope of recovery, any place in the world, that can restore the dead brain cells (stem cells?)?
