Should Vaccination For Shingles Be Taken By A 54-year-old Woman?

Hello and good morning. I am wondering if I should receive the shingles vaccine. I am a female, 54, and I am not sure if I had chicken pox as a child. I can t ask either parent, as they are deceased. also, my childhood medical history is not available to me.

Hello,i have read through your question.

The shingles vaccine is recommended for adults age 60 and older, whether they've already had shingles or not. Although the vaccine is approved for people age 50 and older, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention isn't recommending it until you reach age 60.

So its entirely your choice whether you choose to have it or not.
