Should Permanent Damage To Legs Be Expected Despite Taking Coumadin For Deep Vein Thrombosis?

My son has mild CP and just recently was diagnosed with DVT which I have been researching and sounds like he could have May Thurner syndrome. He was told his iliac is very small. How long can he go with just taking coumadin until the DVT permanently damages his legs. He has no insurance.
