Should my heart palpitations worry me ?

I am 26 years old, and I have been having weird palpitations for a couple of years now. I have even been to a cardiologist (about 1.5 years ago), and had a sonogram of my heart, as well as wearing a 24 hour holt monitor. The sonogram show that my heart was structually fine. And the holt monitor of course didn t pick up anything during that 24 hours. I am so worried that there is something seriously wrong with me. It happens so sporadically, and there is really no rhyme or reason other than when it happens it scares the crap out of me, and I always check my pulse immediately, and everytime my pulse is fine. Any comments or suggestions? I don t know what to do. I m so worried that there may be something wrong with me and I am not getting treated. All comments are so very helpful. Thank you all! And yes, unfortunately, I have been diagnosed with anxiety and panic attacks, but the weird thing about it is I havn t had a panic attack in almost 2 years! Anxiety...sure, but I am usually just standing still, or sitting and it just goes bananas on me.

I've had palpitations for years. They started when I was in my twenties and now I'm almost 50. I've had EKGs, also a stress test with an ultrasound which were normal. Palpitations are more common in women. I agree, they are kind of scary. The usual causes though are too much caffeine, lack of sleep, stress, taking stimulants, or eating red meat. Usually the palpitation is an extra beat in your heart rhythm. Try getting extra rest, cut down on caffeine and see if that helps.

Hi I m a 19 year old male and I ve always been worried about my health. I know I worry a little too much but sometimes I get heart palpitations ( I ve been told it s panic Disorder as I get extremely anxious sometimes) but I sometimes experience bloating, abdominal pain and pain just below the ribs and also sometimes back and neck pain. Is this all anxiety related? I also have a cough of late and am scared this could all be signs of cancer! I feel I could be being silly but I feel the need to constantly see the doctor what should I do.

I have been having heart palpitations at night for the past 2 weeks that wake me up out of my sleep. For the past 2 weeks I have been living on no sleep because of this and it is miserable. I have had anxiety issues in the past, but I really feel as though this is different. When sleeping I kind of feel like I "forget to breathe" and get a heart palpitation just when I'm about to doze off. I had heart palpitations 2 years ago and went to a cardiologist in which the doctor did many tests and found nothing abnormal. I have competed in athletics my entire life and am a seemingly healthy 23 year old female.

I have been having what my doctor has called palpitations for the past month, i.e. my heart has been racing unpleasantly. She suggested thyroid or anameia and I have had blood tests, am awaiting the results. Also I had an ECG which is said to show nothing untoward. I am 66 years old and female and I am concerned about the experience of heart racing. I feel as if I am anxious, frightened, and yet I know I'm not. Sometimes these effects last over half an hour, and sometimes eating sweet things sets it off.

I've been treated for heart palpitations before - I don't have them as frequently as I used to - however - on occassion it will feel as if my heart is like a fish flopping around out of water in my chest. You can see it and feel it very clearly. Yesterday it seemed to happen quite frequently. Today it seems fine. Is this something I should worry about? It doesn't seem like something normal.
