Should I Meet Endocrinologist For Hypothyroidism During Pregnancy?
I am hypothyroid and 10 weeks pregnant. Taking my meds. I've been get my testing and prescriptions from my obgyn for the past year. I am wondering if now that I'm pregnant should I start seeing an endocrinologist? Is the pregnancy enough for my obgyn to handle?
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Hypothyroidism in pregnancy is a common entity and most of the OBGYN specialists are well versed in managing this condition. You need to be properly investigated , your TSH hormonal values to be done monthly and your levothyroxine dose has to be adjusted accordingly. Its your OBGYN's discretion to consult with an endocrinologist if she requires his/ her opinion in management. Hope you found the answer helpful. Wishing you good health. Regards, Dr Deepti Verma
