Should A Doctor Be Consulted For A Rash Around A Dog Bite Wound?

I was bitten by a dog about a week ago. I started to notice a skin rash around the areas of the bite 4 days later. I thought it was from the heat and the gauze wrap. So I have been airing out the area. Other than the antibiotic should I be taking anything else or should I schedule an appointment with my doctor?

Hi,

After a dog bite you have to take vaccination as early as possible for rabies and tetanus. Right now you may get local infection, so wash the wound with hydrogen peroxide regularly. Use Betadine wash with ointment application. If not improved, need to take antibiotics as early as possible. otherwise it may get infected and lead to complications. I think I answered to your question if you have more questions, feel free to ask.

Hope I have answered your query.
