Should I Be Worried For Elevated WBCs In My Blood Work?
We brought my son he s 7 to the we at the recommendation from his pediatrician for suspected appendicitis. He was cleared and released. When I looked at his blood work I noticed some elevated levels such as his bun/creatin level 28 grans(absolute) 11.1 lymph% auto diff low 11.1 monocytes %auto diff 10.5 monos (absolute) 1.6 and his eosinophil (absolute) 0.9. He also had an elevated WBC of 15 and an alkaline phosphatase of 176 as well as MCHC of 36.7 and MPV of 11.8. And a C-reactive protein high of 1.340. Should I be worried the only follow up see his dr. In 2 days

Hi, In a case of infection, neutrophils levels will be raised and all others will be correspondingly reduced. All the other values other than c-reactive protein is normal for the age of your son. C - reactive protein indicates ongoing inflammation, also the reason neutrophils are increased probably. The readings given in most of the laboratories are for adults and not matched to various age groups or sex. Interpretation is necessary and the doctor will do it. Do not worry. Hope it helped.
