Should I Be Concerned About The Swelling Below My Knee And Top Of Shin?

6 years ago I was in a car accident. I had a slightly torn MCL which healed on its own. I noticed last week that I had some slight swelling below my knee and on top of shin. It s painless and once in a while slightly red. Is this something I need to be concerned about?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be a hematoma or soft tissue swelling. If you are asymptomatic it can be left behind and no treatment is required.

If you experience symptoms like pain or difficulty in moving the limbs, it will be better to consult an orthopedic and get evaluated. In that case you might require an MRI scan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain
