Should 3 Medicines Of Prednisone Be Taken Together To Heal A Swelling And A Pain?

I have torn my knee cartilage while on holiday and kept on the leg walking every day for 15 days with the help of Naprosyn and painkillers and a bandage.the MRI shows a severe tear and my dr has referred me to a surgeon for an arthroscopy. As the swelling and pain is still fairly bad he has recommended a 5 to 7 day course of 5 mg of prednisone to be taken 3 times per day with meals.when my husband filled the script our chemist said in his view the meds should be taken all at once with breakfast. It is a long weekend in Sydney and my doctor is away.Any advice?

Hello,
Welcome to HCM,
It is my pleasure to help you,
For any muscle and skeletal injuries, the usual recommended adult dose of the drug naprosyn is 2 or 3 times a day.
It relieves pain and reduces swelling and inflammation by reducing a substance in the body that leads to inflammation and pain.
Steroid has been recommended because still you are having pain and swelling, short course of steroid will agonist the effect of Naprosyn and help to reduce the symptoms.
But you have to consult your orthopedician for the repair of the damaged cartilage, as it is evident in MRI.
Hope you are satisfied with my explanation.
Thank you.
