Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for your query.
I suspect that the cause of pain in the neck and shoulder could be possibly due to Cervical strain/ Cervical spondylosis.
A detailed clinical examination is also mandatory to define the exact cause of the symptoms.
using one firm pillow at night to reduce strain on your neck
Soft collars should only be worn for short periods of time because long-term wear can decrease the strength of neck muscles.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care
Warm Regards
