Severe Nausea And Diarrhea After Head Injury. Can It Be Due To Internal Bleeding?

My father-in-law hit his head hard earlier today, but has been fine since then. Now (about 10 hours later) he has severe nausea/vomiting and diarrhea. Says he has no headache. Do you think it could be any sort of brain bleed? Or just food poisoning unrelated to the head trauma?

Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted the symptoms of your father-in-law. Based on the symptoms, the chance of internal brain bleeding is very low.

In a person with bleeding of brain, the main symptom would be headache. In association with headache, nausea and vomiting may also occur.

So, as of now, food poisoning or gastro-enteritis is more likely as the cause for his symptoms.

I hope my reply has helped you.

I would be pleased to answer, if you have any follow up queries or if you require any further information.

Best wishes,
