Red Bumps Under Armpits. Bleeding And Pus. Applied Antiseptic. Is This Staph?

Red bumps under arm pits. One bump spread to the side of my left chest side and started out as a bump. I felt it getting chafed because my biceps on my left arm would constantly rub it. Three days later, after I put a bandage over it, it s bleeding and puss is in it, but it s ruptured and looks like melted cheese. All I did was put a bandage and some antiseptic Creme on it. Is this staph? Or is it just a weird boil? Can lavender and/or tea tree oil get rid of the other smaller bumps around my under arms?

Dear Concerned.,

Thanks for writing to us.

After an analysis of the history described by you it could be an infection of sweat glands and hair follicles in the arm pit coalased , a term applied to it called "Hydradenitis Suppuritiva"

The infection could have been caused by gram positive "Staphylococci" It could also be a Staphylococcal Impetigo.

You have to undergo detailed routine blood and urinalysis including a culture and sensitivity for the Pus .Depending upon the report ,a treatment can be instituted. The investigations are essential to establish /rule out co morbid conditions such as Diabetes/immunodeficiency etc.

In the meanwhile ,when the reports are being awaited, cleaning and dressing of the area/prophylactic antibiotics/anti inflammatories/vitamins Supplimentation/Hot fomentation can continue.

Wishing you Speedy recovery.
