Reason For Red Line On Thigh Without Trauma Or Irritation?

Hello, we noticed a red line on the back of my son s thigh this morning when he woke up. It looks like a burn but isn t and it is not causing him any irritation. He was wearing loose pajama pants last night so it could not have been caused by restriction. I have been researching this and it seems to be very common which is concerning as it would appear to be a chemical or ingredient in a food or product that a majority of babies come into contact with. I also saw that it could be some sort of burn caused by staph infection? If there is any advice to give I would appreciate it or if there has been any research studied on the re-occurrence of this red line in young children.

Sometimes a red line on the skin is an indication of an infection that is spreading. If you can locate a bite, rash or cut around that area, that maybe the source of this problem. In addition, if he has fever or any signs of illness, he should be seen by his physician. If the problem does not resolve or if it worsens, I would suggest seeing your physician.
