Reason For Being Sensitive To Medication?

I have had fibromyalgia for more than 11 years. Several months ago my doctor started trying to find a more effective pain medicine regimen. Many have caused severe nausea, vomiting & dizziness. She started me on fentanyl patches a couple months ago. I had been on them a few years ago when I was with a different physician. My current physician upped the dose due to limited effectiveness. At first I did fine, then after a couple of months, I developed N & V & dizziness. When I advised her of this information today, she said I had either reacted to or had ineffective pain control with everything out there. She says my only options are for a rheumatologist to treat me with a monthly IV medication such as Embrel. How safe is that treatment? Why am I suddenly sensitive to most narcotics? Can you recommend any other treatment?
