Presence Of Urine In Blood. Recommended For CT Scan, No Blood Present Next Day. Is It Recommended To Take Scan?
I had to urinate the other day and it came out very red and bloody. Went to the doctor and they did a test on it and said I had infection (I am 60 yrs old). They did not give me any antibiotics but wanted me to come in for blood work and to go for a ct scan in a week. The day after the blood was mostly gone but I was just wondering why they would not give me something for and have me wait a week to take the ct scan
Hello Thanks for your query.Based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you had single episode of passing blood in the urine. Blood in the urine can be due to anywhere from kidney to bladder, However the commonest cause at the age 60 is prostate enlargment or some malignancy. Get basic investigation like Ultrasound scanning of the abdomen done before going for C.T scan.
In the meanwhile take antibiotics like Cefotaxime tc control infection.
