Prescribed Suboxone, Trazodone For Panic Attacks And Withdrawals. Have Long Lasting Erections. Do I Need Help?

HI, I recently had a visit at a detox center and a psych ward for panic attacks and withdrawls. I was perscribed suboxone, trazodone, lexapro, and abilify. I noticed at night i would have long lasting erections and was wondering if i have symptoms of priapism. I have known that trazodone is known to cause this side effect. I took the drugs for about 2 months. The long lasting erections happened still sometimes. They were not painfull, they just lasted a long time. I have since quit taking the drugs and don't experience erection problems or penis problems. Im wondering if i could have had a priapism, and if i should get any medical help to see if I have damage to my penis or if I am not in any trouble. I don't know if the erections were longer than 4 hours or more.

Hello dear,

You are correct regarding the fact that Trazodone can cause Priapism as its side effect.
But the symptoms as mentioned in your post does not suggest towards Priapism.
In Priapism, there will be erection of the penis in the absence of any stimulation, it will be associated with pain & the penis won't return to flaccid state even after 4-6 hrs.
In your case, the erection was not associated with pain.
The erection might be due increased blood flow through the penis, which can occur due to many reasons.
So, please do not get concerned about any damage to your penis.

If there is no problem in maintaining an erection or during ejaculation, then you need not worry at all.
