Premature Baby On Vent, G-tube. Prednisone Causing Constipation. Non-stimulant Stool Softener Other Than Prednisone?

I'am currently caring for a pre mature 5 month old infant on a vent and also has a g-tube. He was recently prescribed prednisone which seems to be causing him to be constipated. Is there a safe, non-stimulant stool softener that we could utilize? he was prescribed miralax which is causing him to have VERY loose stool which may result in dehydration.

Hi, 5month baby on ventilator , giving prednisone , and miralax for constipation, you are fearing of dehydration. Don't worry he is under supervision of the neonatologist, and on g.tube, he will be supplied with the fluids to compensate dehydration, neonatal baby's stool will be loose only.
If you are particular of the alternative you can use milk of magnesia. Thank you.
