Pregnant. Noticed Anechoic Cystic In Ovary. Tummy Growing Unusually Big. Having Pelvic Pain. Normal?
HI, I'm 35 years old and 5 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child. According to my ultrasound, my right ovary measures 4.0x3.0cm while the left ovary measures 2.8 x 1.8 cm. there is a well defined anechoic cystic focus in the right ovary measuring 2.7 cm. Are these normal? My tummy is getting bigger which I think is very unusual because i'm only 5 weeks pregnant. and I sometimes feel pain on my right pelvic side. Hoping to find answers. thanks :)
Hi, Thanks for the query. Sometimes simple cysts can be seen in ovaries. These can occur be follicular cysts, luteal cysts etc. As the cyst is of normal size and anechoic no need to worry. As you are pregnant that can be corpus luteal cyst of pregnancy. Usually once the placenta takes over the function of producing the hormones these type of cysts will regress. So only followup is needed. You can take symptomatic treatment meanwhile. For more details you can ask me through: http://www.healthcaremagic.com/doctors/dr-sree-gouri-sr/63429 Take care.
