Hi,

It is important to seek medical attention immediately, as the symptoms you are experiencing may be related to a post-operative complication. The right shoulder pain may be a sign of a potential surgical complication such as sub-diaphragmatic irritation due to carbon dioxide gas used during laparoscopic surgery or an intra-abdominal abscess. The tenderness in the abdomen, distension, and diminished bowel sounds may suggest ileus, which is a delay in bowel movement after surgery. This may be due to the surgical trauma, medications, or anesthesia used during the surgery. Other possible causes may include an infection or bowel obstruction.

It is concerning that you are only able to tolerate a few specific foods and are experiencing a growing abdomen. These symptoms could suggest that you are not getting adequate nutrition or that there may be a fluid accumulation in the abdomen. It is important to follow up with your surgeon or primary care provider as soon as possible to determine the cause of your symptoms and to receive appropriate treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hi,

It sounds like you are experiencing some postoperative complications after your hiatal hernia surgery. The right shoulder pain you are feeling may be referred pain from the surgery site or could be related to gas that may have accumulated during the surgery. The tenderness in your abdomen could be a sign of inflammation or infection in the area. It's good that you are able to have a bowel movement, but the fact that you are only able to tolerate soft foods and are experiencing a feeling of bloating and abdominal distension may be a sign that your digestive system is not functioning normally.

Based on the information provided, it would be best for you to seek medical attention as soon as possible. Your diminished bowel sounds could indicate a blockage or other issue that needs to be addressed. Your vital signs are stable, but your symptoms should not be ignored. It's important to inform your healthcare provider of all your symptoms, including the right shoulder pain, tenderness in your abdomen, difficulty eating, and bloating.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
