Painful Gum And Jaw, Irritation, Itchy, Worse When Chewing. Is It Inflammation?

Hello doctor, I am having a constant pain in the upper left gum/jaw since a week...I've seen a dentist who said it might be an inflammation in the gums. I've been on antibiotics for 5days (3 per day) but the pain us still here. It is not a severe pain..tooth not aching at all but a constant irritating and itching factor in the upper left gum..which goes worse when chewing. I would like to know the possible causes and remedy. Thanking you all in anticipation...best regards

Hi ! This could be due some kind of inflammation as told by your dentist. I would suggest you to avoid hot and hard food till you are relieved. Apart from an antibiotic which should include that for anaerobic organisms also, you should also go for some anti septic gargles or warm saline gargles about 2-3 times a day. Hope this will solve your problem. At the same time, there is no harm in getting a blood sugar done for you as a routine test. Wishing you an early recovery.

Hi,

Thanks for asking the query,

According to your symptoms i suppose that you might have developed inflammation of the gums.
A thorough clinical examination and x-ray of the affected region is required.
Go for complete mouth scaling and polishing and curettage of the affected area.
Apply gum paint and massage at the affected site.
Take lukewarm saline and antiseptic mouthwash rinses.
Avoid eating from the affected side for some days.

Hope this helps out.

Regards...

Thank you for writing to us,

On the basis of your information I feel that some inflammation has occured in salivary gland duct opening..it getting worse while chewing indicates when saliva is being secreted then you are getting more pain...

First take lukewarm saline gargle at least 3-4 times /day..
Get a proper investigation done by a dentist..
Hope this will help you...

Wish you good health...

Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

Painful gum as well as jaws may be due to-periodontitis.

I would advice you to get a thorough scaling as well as root planning done.

If there is pocket/bone loss, bone grafting has to be done.

Meanwhile,gargle frequently with chlorhexidine mouthrinses.

Maintain oral hygiene well.

Please do visit a dentist for further reference.

Take care.

hi...
thanks for the query...
it seems to be periodontitis.... antibiotics wont help, as long as the cause for it persists there...
and the cause is plaque and calculus...
so.. go for proper scaling and root planing for removal of the deposits... also go for radiographs to access the underlying bone... go for any osseous surgery if required...
maintain your oral hygiene after that by brushing twice daily (by proper method told by your dentist) after meals...
take care...
