Pain In Shoulder, Muscle Loss Noticebale. Treated For Lump On Anterior Deltoid, Hematoma. Help?
hello, I was in a motorcycle accident, after being on blood thinners due to surgeries and various antibiotics I had a lump appeared about 2-4 weeks after the accident on my anterior deltoid. The doctors said it was a hematoma and they did not relieve the pressure and my the upper 50% of my anterior deltoid disappeared over the next few months. its been about 2 years since the accident and I have been working out and the muscle loss is very noticeable both visible and in my strength it also causes pain in my shoulder because of no even pressure on the joint. Can this muscle be regenerated or repaired in any way?
From the given description it is evident that you have Deltoid muscle atrophy.
Initially, the cause of atrophy has to be determined whether it is disuse atrophy or neurogenic atrophy.
As your atrophied deltoid muscle is not improving despite your workouts ,I suspect neurogenic atrophy in your case. There might have been injury to the branch of axillary nerve which supplies the deltoid either in the initial accident or during surgical procedures.

Pain In Shoulder, Muscle Loss Noticebale. Treated For Lump On Anterior Deltoid, Hematoma. Help?
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM. A nerve conduction study or an Electromyogram will help in establishing the diagnosis. I suggest you to consult a Neurophysician for further evaluation and management. Hope this information is helpful. Good day
