Overweight, Large Body Structure, Depressing. What Can Be Done About That?

Hi there,

I have a big bone structure/large frame and even a slight weight gain makes me look even wider hence I feel overweight and comparing myself to other people just feels abnormal. I'm 5"4 to 5"5 and I'm not sure how to solve this problem or if I even could do anything about it. My arms and thighs are mostly affected by my frame and it's devastating

Thanks
Raz

Hi Raz,
Welcome to HCM.
Large bone structure is genetic and you have to understand that maximum changes can be done to the fat deposition at different areas on the body and not to bone structure. Please stop comparing yourself with other people. Every individual has his/her own assets. Now coming to your weight management. As you are 5 feet 5 inches tall, when converted to centimeters is around 162.5 cms. Your ideal weight can be calculated by a rough formula where your ideal weight should be around 62 kg (this is derived by subtracting 100 from your height in cms). I suggest you follow a regular diet pattern which should include lots of fiber (salads). You have already identified the problem areas of your body (thighs and arms), so I suggest good toning exercises which target those areas particularly. As you know that weight gain is not an option due to your large frame, regular exercise is a must. I wish you all the luck. Healthy diet and regular exercise is the mantra for good health. Thanks.
