The creatinine & urea are the indicators of functional status of the kidneys. Increase in levels of these suggest towards deteriorating renal function. As you have mentioned that your father is on insulin, this can be attributed to Diabetic nephropathy, a condition in which there is deteriorating kidney function secondary to Diabetes.
The medicines as mentioned in your post are found to be beneficial in preserving kidney function and prevent further damage. So, kindly consult her treating physician & discuss regarding this. Investigations like Ultrasound scan of abdomen with renal doppler study will be helpful. Wishing your father a good health. Take care.
