There are two explanations for your query
1) You had very minimal cylindrical error. It appears you have started using contact
lenses at the age of 17 which are the developing years. In this phase refraction does change due to growth.
2) Prolonged use of contact lens do change the curvature of the cornea.
3) So I do not think of any error during your first eye testing. Had there been an error in initial testing you would not have been comfortable for 3 years .
