Dear friend,
Thanks for posting your query on this website. I can fully appreciate your concern for your problem.
I am afraid that it is worrisome. A time may come when K. pnuemoniae becomes resistant to colistin and
tigecycline too!
The earlier you regain bladder sensations, obviating catherization, THE BETTER.
Hence, take all precautions to ensure contacting UTI.
- Keep the external part of catheter sterile as much as possible.
- It would be ideal to have the catheter changed every 3-4 days till you recover from neurological complications of
spinal injury.
- ensure that you take prompt treatment for UTI due to K.pneumoniae.
THERE IS NO BETTER ALTERNATIVE TREATMENT THAN THE AFORE-MENTIONED PRECAUTIONS.
I am confident that you will certainly benefit from the advice.
May I assure you that I am always available for your assistance and will try my best to cure your condition to the best of my experience and knowledge.
Please feel free to revert back to me in case of further clarifications, if any.
HAVE A NICE DAY AND A SPEEDY RECOVERY.
Fond Regards,
Dr.(Col) R Karanwal
