Oily Mucus Discharged With Stool Along With Farting. What Does This Indicate?

HI, I am 58. I underwent MHC at Apollo and also 64 slice CT angio. Everything is alright except Cholestrol level is marginally high. No medication is prescribed.I feel perfectly healthy. I go to toilet once a day or every other day, usually in the morning and my bowels feels empty. I am in no pain before, during or after my bowel movements or during the day and there is no blood. I haven't lost my appetite and I do not feel bloated or in pain after I eat and I have full control over my bowels. I do not smoke or take drugs and I am not on any medication.

But since past five days lot of gas passes out in the early mornings. For the past three days small amount oily mucus is discharged with gas while in the toilet. Today little mucus discharged while passing gas at around 3 AM. No pain or smell. Is it dysentry or infection? should I take any medicine?

Gastroenterologist 's  Response
Hello! Thanks for putting your query in HCM. I am a Gastroenterologist (DM).

Excessive gas is produced because food stay for a longer period of time, also if one take food that is not digestible and bacteria present over there try to digest them and produce gas

What you all have to do is:
1. Do regular aerobic exercise at least 30 minutes / day
2. If you are obese or overweight then you should reduce your weight again by exercise and low caloric diet
3. Wear loose clothes
4.Observe when you take milk or milk products whether these symptoms worsen, if yes then please avoid them
5. Avoid carbonated drinks, wine or beer, and peas and vegetables of cabbage family
6.Avoid smoking
7. take black tea and add cardamom and ginger to it and take them with meals
8. Don't forget to close mouth while chewing food
9.Eat slowly
10. Take a proton pump inhibitor along with a prokinetic agent
11. Take Tablets that contain enzymes protease, amylase, lipase with meals

I hope I have answered your query and this will help you. If you have any further query I will be happy to answer that too. Remain in touch and get-well soon.
