Occasional Swelling Of Upper Lips. Take Good Care Of Lips. Possible Cause?

Hello. My name is Brian. I have a quick question to ask. First off. My upper lip is swollen. It swells up every once in a while. It happens infrequently so I know it may not be a serious issue. I was just curious of what causes a swollen lip? I don t pick at my lips at all. I take good care of them. During the winter seasons use Carmex lip balm on them so they won t get dry. Is there any known causes for this?

Hello,
Welcome to health care magic.
From your description, it seems to me that you may be having recurrent angioedema. There are several causes for including food, medications, infections, infestations and familial. Since you get it infrequently, I suggest you to keep a food diary on the day you get the swelling. Note down everything that you have ingested that day and after a month, just check if you have food item in common and try to eliminate that to see if the swelling episodes subside.
You can also take an anti histamine on the day you get the swelling for faster relief.
Hope this helped you.
Take care.
