Numbness In Left Arm, Disturbed Sleep, Irregular Pulse Rate While Exercising. Cause Of Worry?
Hello I am a 20 year old female I am 5 foot 5 inches and 140lbs and I get at least a half hour of intense exercise every day. My left arm is constantly falling asleep when it is bent though and I often am woken up by it at night. I am also concerned because at times during exercise it will seem as if my heart is skipping beats, but this only happens once every now and then. I am wondering if there is any reason to worry
Hello
It is quite common to have this problem of arms falling asleep during sleep.
This is because you put pressure on your nerves making them numb or putting pressure on your blood vessels resulting in narrowing of blood supply.
In fact what is more important is whether you feel numbness or tingling in day time as it may mean some deficiency like electrolyte imbalance deficiency of VIT B12,VIT D,calcium etc.
As far as skipping the heart beat is concerned,it may be normal if you experience it occasionally but if it is happening on regular basis, then you may have to consult a cardiologist and may get HOLTER monitoring
Thanks
