Need Insight On LADA

Hi, diagnosed with Type 2 in last 10 years. A1C has been as high as 13, lowest 9, I do not monitor myself. I have also suffered with IBS for over 40 years. I am female in my late 70's, Never weighted more than 130 except when pregnant (gave birth to 2 children in my mid 20's both 9 lbs. plus) My doctor now tells me he thinks I have LADA. At what point should I be seeing more than my small town MD. Also I have very crocked teeth, no other family member does.

Dear sir I understand your concern.LADA is a sub type of diabetes which is in between type 2 and type 1 diabetes.In this kind of diabetes there will be accelerated damage of Beta cells.this beta cells are one that produce insulin.There is nothing to feel bad about LADA,you need to start using insulin insted of your traditional tablets.But still you should continue metformin stopping all other diabetic medications.To find out a bout LADA we need to go for auto anti body testing for GAD and Ilet cell anti body.They are expensive and even after diagnosis your treatment will not change....inulin is the best...
As per your Hba1c its advisable to start insulin.
