Need Advice On The Treatment For Acne

Hi Dr. I have been suffering from acne for years now and recently had a terrible outbreak in an area on my face that I have never been affected by before. I went to the doctors when it started to hurt and he told me I have a skin infection. He prescribed me 500mg of cephalexin to take 4 times per day, as well as mupirocin to put on areas 2 a day. This was Thursday, and he told to me to head to the hospital by Saturday if I haven t noticed anything. He didn t tell me what i have, but i am assuming it is folliculitis. I thought that wasn t very much time for the antibiotics to kick in so it is now Sunday. Should I go to the hospital? I haven t noticed much improvement.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query acne problem since years which occurs when sebum get accumulated along with dead skin and bacteria in clogged pore of sebaceous gland. Exfoliate your skin one a week to remove the dead skin from your face. Apply betnovate on acne twice a day for 2-3 days. If condition doesn't start getting better in a week then consult dermatologist for proper examination and treatment. Well it could be folliculitis so it require complete examination. Doctor may prescribe oral antibiotic course clindamycin or isoteritenoin. Apply kojic acid containing cream ( kojivit ) after washing face twice a days. Wash your face with mild soap and cold water twice daily.
