My 14 yr old daughter has had low grade fever, flu like symptoms... Aches headache fatigue etc. then a week and a half into the intermittent revering her knuckles began to swell . It was visible to us looking on and we watched her fingers swell. A doc. We saw began treating her for Lyme disease but we live in XXXXXX and have not traveled to any other Lyme typical states... any other ideas? General & Family Physician 's  Response
hello dear
thanks for your query at HCM
lyme disease can present as Early localized 3-30 day variable constitutional symptoms (headache, fever, myalgia, arthralgia, fatigue)
Early disseminated     3-12 wk     EM (single or multiple), worse constitutional symptoms, cranial neuritis, meningitis, carditis, ocular disease
Late >2 months Arthritis
your child had similar complaints, doctor may have suspected because of clinical presentation,
if in doubt get igg and igM ELISA test done that will rule out any possibility of the disease , if that is positive you may have to go for western immunobloting that will confirm disease
hope this will help you
regards
