Lipoma Removed From Under Rib Cage, Umbilical Hernia Repaired, Urinary Catheter Inserted
I am having combination surgery under general anesthesia . I am having a lipoma removed from under my rib cage and an umbilical hernia repaired, both with open method. It is an same day, outpatient procedure. Will i have a urinary catheter inserted for this operation?
Hi, You are unlikely to have a urinary catheter inserted unless you have had a previous problem with urinary retention post operatively. If you have been told that you will be going home the same day then the surgeon must consider both the operations are relatively straight forward. In which case you should be up and about within a couple of hours after the operation.
