Lightheaded, Dizziness, Pain In Fingers And Wrist After Bug Bite. High WBC Count. Next Step?

Walked on trail and down along the beach one day. Got home to find lil bugs all over feet and up legs. First thought was chiggers, but I work at vet hospital and but a couple bugs in bag to look under microscope. Had a couple other ppl look and we all agreed looked like baby ticks. Next week, thought was getting sinus infection . Light headed and dizzy, but as a smoker my cigs never tasted differernt like when usually get sinus inf. Next week, light headed continued with fevered, chills and numbness in left hand and last 3 fingers. In couple days pain in fingers wrist and elbow like I hit my funny bone . Pain never went away. By this time, went to dr. CBC and Western Blot was ordered, WBC high and Lyme Pos. He sent me to Specialist to retested Western Blot and every other tick, mosquito diseases known. Week later telling me it s a False Positive for Lyme and to return to original dr. Back to square one with still numbness and dizzy spells that come and go. More often constant in afternoon thru evening hours most nights. Legs are weak when walking up and down stairs at house (13 steps) ankles and calves burn . 3 CBC s have been done and on Doxy for 3 weeks and WBC are still slightly raising. Had MRI done and still waiting on results. Where to next if MRI doesn t find anything?

Hi there,
The symptoms you have mentioned definitely are suggestive of arboviral disease. Arboviruses are viruses that are transmitted by mosquito or tick bite.
The diseases these viruses cause can be grouped under three types.
1. Fevers of an undifferentiated type with or without a rash
2. Encephalitis (inflammation of the brain), often with a high fatality and
3. Hemorrhagic fevers
Another interesting aspect about these viruses is that they are confined to specific geographical areas in the globe. I suggest you get in touch with a microbiologist who will decide as to which tick borne disease is prevalent in your location and that can help you be treated appropriately.
You might be having numbness and dizzy spells if you have been a chronic smoker for more than 10 years. Thanks.
