Itchy, Burning Finger Tips. Strep Test Negative, Took Antibiotics, Not Clearing Up. Could It Be An Allergy ?

One year ago, my daughter had red, itchy, burning finger tips and, after extensive blood work, was testing 100% for streph so was put on an antibiotic and cream for her fingers. It eventually helped her and almost a year later the same thing has happened. She had blood work done and it showed 100%n for strep and she was put on an antibiotic and her fingers cleared up a bit but now they are red and itchy and sometimes burning and we have been advised to see a rheumatoid doctor. She had a hand exray but it did not show any nodules on her fingers. What is this? Could it be an allergy?

Hi,
I can understand your concern for the littel girl's itchy and burning finger tips.

after reading the query, in my opinion it appears to allergic contact dermatitis. In this condition there are eruptions along with moderate itching and in more aggravated cases there is appearance of more redness. In this condition a thorough history of contact allergens are to be taken and accordingly a specific diagnostic technique known as patch test is to be undertaken.

You can consult a dermatologist and ask for the possibility of the same.

I suggest you to apply medium to high potency steroid cream application because are best effective in these condition. I would have opted for either mometasone or clobetasol cream.
