Is White Substance Found On Armpit An STD Or A Fungal Infection?

Hi! I just noticed some white substance stuck on my armpit hair near the roots. Clean myself with soap every day. Is it an std or fungal infection? Is it curable permanently as I have heard that fungal infection can not be cured permanently. Please help

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi,

White substance stuck to hairs in axillae may be due to seborrheic dermatitis. It is just like dandruff. It is not STD or fungus. It is an inflammatory condition affecting the seborrheic areas characterised by greasy scales.Kindly consult the dermatologist for the perfect diagnosis.

I would suggest to apply ketoconazole lotion in affected areas. And cleanse the area with ketoconazole shampoo.

I hope this would help you.

Thanks.
